SORACOM Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Ken Tamagawa) will launch "SORACOM Agent," a managed AI agent service that enables automation of business operations, on-site improvements, and product development using IoT, even without specialized IT knowledge, starting July 7, 2026. This service will be released as a Technology Preview version (*1).

SORACOM Agent is a managed AI agent that accompanies users throughout all stages of an IoT project, from planning and prototyping to development and operation.

Automation of on-site processes and product development using AI are important themes for many companies, not only for cost reduction but also as opportunities for new business creation. However, IoT spans a wide range of technical areas, including devices, communications, cloud, AI, and security, requiring specialized knowledge for implementation. Furthermore, operational staff who possess on-site know-how and engineers who build systems are often in different departments. Even if there are ideas for utilization, securing specialized knowledge and coordinating between departments takes time and cost to actually implement and achieve results.

SORACOM Agent, equipped with IoT knowledge, provides solutions by simply communicating problems or, by stating a goal, independently devises methods and procedures for IoT implementation and autonomously executes tasks while operating multiple tools. Simply giving instructions in natural language, such as "When an abnormal detection alert comes from the sensor, understand the content and notify me with a countermeasure," SORACOM combines its rich suite of IoT services, including device management, data collection, image analysis, and automatic notifications, to build the system. Users do not need to instruct each step individually. Staff with business knowledge and know-how can solve problems through consultation.

Furthermore, it is equipped with "Project Memory," which stores past user interactions, on-site events, and operational procedures over the long term. This allows the AI agent to deepen its understanding of the company's operations with repeated use, functioning as a dedicated AI partner. SORACOM Agent operates in a secure container environment isolated for each user, handling confidential data and business information separately within the customer's own environment. Input/collected data and insights gained through projects are retained by the customer as their own IP (intellectual property). Local environment setup is unnecessary, and since an AI agent familiar with SORACOM services is pre-prepared on the platform, immediate use is possible.

As a potential use case, for example, in facility management and security operations, by simply instructing cameras compatible with network-based image acquisition, such as multiple Soracams (*2), to "check for any cameras showing suspicious objects and notify me if any are found," the AI will check the images from all cameras and notify upon detection.

In IoT sensor operations, SORACOM Agent can be activated by triggers such as data transmission failures or abnormal value detection. The AI will then analyze and judge the situation, contact the person in charge, and propose pre-registered countermeasures. In addition, it can be used to build systems for remote device configuration/ON/OFF changes, or to convert on-site conditions into text and notify the person in charge via voice call (subject to conditions such as device compatibility). It can also be used for on-site work assistance where the AI agent answers inquiries about products or infers causes of failure in response to voice consultations.

In the current Technology Preview version, it supports inquiries (analysis/response/control) to reference devices and accumulated data connected to SORACOM, and the creation of automated systems using IoT applications that leverage SORACOM Flux. In the future, functions to consider the overall system structure by simply conveying ideas, functions to more deeply support on-site operations, and proactive notification functions through various channels such as Slack, email, and voice are planned for phased expansion. Additionally, the company will consider devices other than SORACOM reference devices, such as partner devices and devices compatible with specific use cases.

For cases requiring support from SORACOM, it can be used in conjunction with paid SORACOM support plans, where a specialized support team responds, or with "SORACOM Professional Services," where specialized consultants with IoT expertise provide support.

SORACOM aims to support everyone utilizing AI, increase the number of personnel responsible for AI-native business promotion, and accelerate innovation across society through co-creation with customers.

(*1) Technology Preview: A program that allows early access to new features and services for verification purposes prior to official release. We will provide guidance on whether it can be provided individually after inquiring and understanding your intended use and conditions. SORACOM Agent is considering co-creation with various users and partners towards its official release. Interested customers and partners are encouraged to inquire. (*2) Soracam: Abbreviation for "SORACOM Cloud Camera Service."

Overview of Managed AI Agent "SORACOM Agent"

Launch Date

July 7, 2026

Features

Rich suite of IoT tools: Leverages SORACOM's IoT services via API, CLI, and MCP, maximizing the AI agent's performance in the IoT domain.

Secure environment: The AI agent operates in a container environment isolated for each user, allowing data to be handled with confidence.

Equipped with Project Memory: Long-term memory allows it to grow into a dedicated AI agent that becomes more knowledgeable about operations with each use.

Managed service: No environment setup required. An AI agent familiar with SORACOM is pre-installed, enabling non-engineers to start using it immediately.

Use Cases

Facility management/security: AI collectively checks images from multiple Soracams to detect and notify specified individuals. For relevant cameras, exploration by controlling the viewing angle is also possible.

IoT sensor/line operation: AI is activated by triggers such as detection of malfunctions or abnormal values, analyzes the situation, contacts the person in charge, and proposes countermeasures.

Remote control/automatic notification: Build systems for remote device configuration/ON/OFF changes, and voice call notifications of on-site conditions.

On-site work assistance via voice: Consult with the AI agent via voice for inquiries and receive voice responses for troubleshooting or inferring causes of failure.
