NURO Hikari Launches 10Gbps Service in Kumamoto Prefecture

Sony Network Communications Inc. has decided to expand the service area of its high-speed fiber-optic service, "NURO Hikari," to Kumamoto Prefecture, offering a maximum communication speed of 10Gbps. Service provision and applications will begin sequentially from late August 2026. Through this expansion, the company aims to promote the standardization of 10Gbps services, which enable high-speed and large-capacity communication, and enhance the value of customer experiences through connectivity. In Kumamoto Prefecture, the service will be offered at a reasonable price for both detached houses and apartment complexes, with maximum upload and download speeds of 10Gbps. Since its launch in April 2013, "NURO Hikari" has been used by many users who prioritize communication speed and stability. Since expanding into the Tohoku region in February 2023, the company has adopted a policy of offering only 10Gbps services in new areas, leading the market in promoting 10Gbps expansion. In the Kyushu region, service began in Fukuoka and Saga prefectures in April 2019. By now offering only 10Gbps in Kumamoto, the company is strengthening the spread of high-speed lines nationwide. "NURO Hikari" is committed to providing cutting-edge communication environments to realize richer experiences through the internet, while continuously enhancing network facilities. Since fiscal year 2023, the company has implemented facility upgrades approximately twice the level of the previous year to promote a comfortable and stable communication environment. Additionally, it is striving to improve service quality by strengthening communication environment monitoring based on customer feedback. In the "Japan Fixed Broadband Experience May 2026" report released by the international network analysis firm Opensignal in May 2026, "NURO Hikari" was selected as No. 1 in all five categories for user experience among fixed-line connection users, marking the highest evaluation in Japan. It won all five categories—Reliability Experience, Consistent Quality, Download Speed, Upload Speed, and Video Experience—and was also selected as "Best Home Internet." "NURO Hikari" will continue to expand its services as a communication service of the Sony Group, aiming to provide richer experiences via the internet.
