Sony Bank Inc. (President: Keiji Minami; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter 'Sony Bank') is pleased to announce that it has provided a financial education program to Shirayuri University (President: Yuichi Igari; Chofu City, Tokyo).
Since signing an industry-academia partnership agreement in 2023, Sony Bank has been collaborating with Shirayuri University's 'Introduction to Leadership' PBL (Project-Based Learning) course to provide financial education.
For the 2025 academic year, the course was conducted for 31 students, covering topics such as 'How to think about life planning and asset management options' and 'Money management.' To acquire practical knowledge, students were tasked with 'setting a target and persona in their early 20s, starting asset management to achieve short, medium, and long-term goals, and using Sony Bank WALLET as their main card.'
On January 9, the final presentation session was held to showcase the results. Maki Ogawa, Executive Officer of Sony Financial Group Inc., participated alongside Sony Bank employees to select the two best groups. The winning groups presented their final proposals to President Minami at the Sony Bank headquarters and created Instagram posts to encourage the use of Sony Bank WALLET as a main card. These posts are currently featured on Sony Bank's official Instagram account.

Associate Professor Ueno, who is in charge of the 'Introduction to Leadership' course, commented: 'This course has gained recognition on campus, leading to an increase in students wanting to enroll. It has contributed to campus revitalization through industry-academia collaboration. It is a course where students can realize that the ability to understand people and communicate with words is useful in society, and it has a high affinity with our university's expertise.'
Furthermore, there was a significant change in the students' perception of the importance of what they learned. The percentage of students who answered that 'money management methods' were 'very important' or 'important' increased from 48% before the class to 100% after. Similarly, the response rate for 'life planning and savings plans' improved from 44% to 96%.
Student feedback:
- I felt I grew a lot by experiencing things I couldn't in other classes.
- The process of creating the presentation as a group involved a lot of research to understand the product, and we thought repeatedly about how to make it appealing. The process itself was very fun and deepened my learning.
Sony Bank aims to contribute to a society where people can live rich lives by leveraging its products and services to provide financial education opportunities to the next generation. Sony Bank also aims to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs through value creation via its banking business and strengthening the foundation for such value creation.
