Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. (President and Representative Director: Koji Ishikawa, hereinafter 'Sompo Japan') conducted a crime prevention campaign jointly with the Ibaraki Prefectural Police Headquarters (Chief: Mikishige Takizawa, hereinafter 'Ibaraki Prefectural Police') at Mito Station on April 8, 2026.

To prevent damage from special fraud and cybercrimes, they urged station users to take measures against fake police fraud and use international call blocking apps. Coinciding with the start of the new fiscal year, they distributed flyers and educational items.

1. Background and History

Based on the 'Comprehensive Partnership Agreement Concerning Regional Safety and Security' concluded with the Ibaraki Prefectural Police in December 2021, Sompo Japan has presented 500 'posters' for fake police fraud countermeasures, 1,800 'stickers' to prevent cybercrime damage, and 500 'flyers' to prevent vehicle theft to the Ibaraki Prefectural Police in fiscal year 2025. The company continues to carry out educational activities utilizing these materials.

2. Purpose of the Campaign

By raising awareness about special fraud and cybercrimes, the campaign aims to enhance crime prevention consciousness across the entire local community and contribute to the proactive prevention of criminal damage.

3. Future Initiatives

Sompo Japan will continue to further strengthen its partnership with the Ibaraki Prefectural Police and contribute to the creation of safe and secure communities by solving various social issues.
