SOMPO Business Solutions Inc. (President: Yasuhiro Matsumoto) is pleased to announce the development of the "Internal Audit Practitioner Training Program," a support measure for exclusive agencies of Sompo Japan, and has begun recruiting participants from April 2026.

This program is one of our management support offerings for exclusive agencies, designed to help insurance agencies establish a self-reliant PDCA cycle for improving business quality. It aims to promote the on-site implementation of "customer-centric business operations" advocated by the Financial Services Agency, contributing to the restoration of trust and sound development of the entire industry.

**1. Background of Development: Challenges in "Internal Audit" Faced by Many Non-Life Insurance Agencies**

In recent years, due to supervisory guidelines from the Financial Services Agency and overall industry trends, non-life insurance agencies are required to have increasingly sophisticated management control systems (governance). The core of this is "internal audit," which involves self-checking the appropriateness of operations.

However, many non-life insurance agencies, especially exclusive agencies rooted in local communities, recognize the importance of internal audits but face common challenges such as:

* "Don't know where to start in the first place."
* "No capacity to assign dedicated staff, and unclear how to train existing members."
* "Audits end up as merely formal checks and don't lead to organizational improvement."

These issues not only hinder the sustainable growth of agencies but also pose risks to customer service quality and information management, making them common industry themes. Therefore, we first focused on developing a program for exclusive agencies, for which we received many requests.

**2. Features of the New Program: Professional Mentoring for "Living Audits" with Accompaniment Support**

This program was developed under the supervision of Nippon Sourin Inc. (https://nippon-sourin.co.jp/), an expert organization in auditing. It goes beyond merely providing knowledge, supporting participants in building a system where they can independently run a PDCA cycle without feeling isolated.

**(1) Highly Reliable Systematic Curriculum**

Participants will systematically learn the "form" and "key points" of auditing from the basics, using texts and teaching materials supervised by Nippon Sourin Inc., experts in internal auditing. The curriculum covers essential themes for agency management, including management control, compliance, and IT risks.

**(2) Acquisition of Practical Skills**

Through role-playing and case studies, participants will acquire skills for "living audits" that empathize with the field and guide the organization in a positive direction. This fosters practical abilities that can be used immediately.

**(3) Interaction and Growth with "Peers"**

Group discussions with personnel from other companies allow for sharing new insights and hints for solutions. This fosters a community where participants can grow together while sharing their concerns.

**3. Program Outcomes (Voices from Trial Participating Agencies)**

Before participating, I understood the importance of internal audits but had not taken concrete actions.

Through participating in this program, I realized that internal audit is not a short-term cost but a responsible "strategic investment for the future" by management to create a "sustainable company" where younger generations can work with peace of mind. (Agency Manager)
