The technology is available for test rides at Saginomiya Technical Laboratory in Sayama, Saitama, where Saginomiya Seisakusho’s latest testing equipment is gathered. SOLIZE Ureka Technology introduced an autonomous driving simulator in 2021 to evaluate autonomous driving performance at the vehicle level and has since advanced the development of autonomous driving control algorithms. The simulator uses technologies from VI-grade, a company with an established track record in driving simulators, including the traffic scenario generation software VI-WorldSim and the real-time computer AutoHawk. This enables efficient development of core autonomous driving control algorithms, such as calculating target paths and speeds and determining steering, accelerator and brake inputs. The company has also developed demonstration content covering environments from urban roads and highways to racetracks that test a vehicle’s limit performance. Saginomiya Seisakusho is a comprehensive testing equipment manufacturer with broad business in the automotive industry. It entered the driving simulator field in 2012 and developed the DiM (Drive-in-Motion) motion platform, a mid-size platform capable of reproducing a wide range of driving scenes in a balanced way. The system has been delivered to many OEMs, suppliers and research institutions in Japan and overseas. DiM300 is the latest model in the DiM series, designed for evaluating vehicle dynamics, including limit driving, and for verifying autonomous driving functions. The joint development uses Calabogie Motorsports Park, Canada’s longest racetrack, as its subject. The motion platform reproduces the vehicle’s translational and rotational movements during driving, allowing drivers to operate while feeling acceleration similar to actual driving. SOLIZE Ureka Technology focused on how acceleration generated by the motion platform affects driver inputs and primarily optimized the steering control algorithm. It reviewed steering force and the timing of driver-assistance intervention to achieve behavior that feels more reassuring. The company also redesigned the HMI for DiM300 to communicate the operating status of autonomous driving and assistance functions to the driver. Saginomiya Seisakusho optimized its motion cueing algorithm to handle demanding simulation conditions involving repeated high-speed and large acceleration and deceleration events, drawing out the full potential of DiM300’s large motion range and high responsiveness. In addition, for drift driving, one of SOLIZE Ureka Technology’s assistance functions, the companies achieved motion that lets drivers realistically feel the vehicle’s lateral slip while cornering. Through this joint development, the companies established simulation technology that allows users to experience limit driving on a racetrack in three modes on Saginomiya Seisakusho’s DiM300: autonomous driving, manual driving and assisted driving. SOLIZE Ureka Technology’s control algorithms can now be experienced at three locations: SOLIZE Ureka Technology’s headquarters, Saginomiya Technical Laboratory and VI-grade SimCenter Tokyo. The companies state that in the development of advanced autonomous driving and vehicle dynamics including limit driving, many challenges require verification of how drivers actually feel, making driving simulators a highly effective tool. Going forward, both companies will use the technologies and know-how gained through this joint development to provide new value and services to many customers involved in these development areas. Yoshiki Yasuno, Evangelist of the MBD C&M Division at SOLIZE Ureka Technology, said that running the company’s autonomous driving algorithm on DiM300 reaffirmed its excellence. He expressed confidence that combining it with Saginomiya Seisakusho’s advanced motion platform technology will enable the two companies to develop compelling demonstration content and provide new services. SOLIZE Ureka Technology and Saginomiya Seisakusho will exhibit at Automotive Engineering Exposition 2026 YOKOHAMA, held at Pacifico Yokohama from May 27 to 29, and will demonstrate the results of this joint development at both companies’ booths. SOLIZE Ureka Technology will exhibit at Exhibition Hall No.229, while Saginomiya Seisakusho will exhibit at Exhibition Hall No.197. During the event, the companies will provide priority test-ride slots and individual interview opportunities for media representatives, including hands-on operation of an autonomous driving simulator equipped with the same control algorithm, interviews with developers, photography and provision of materials.
