1. Background and Objectives
Okazaki City (Co-proposers: Aichi Prefecture and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation) was selected as a '2nd Leading Decarbonization Area' in November 2022 and is advancing efforts toward realizing a '2050 Zero Carbon City'. *8

As part of this, the city will electrify 68 official vehicles and implement this Project, which allows citizens and tourists to use them for shopping and sightseeing after business hours on weekdays and on holidays.

The EVs to be introduced are assumed to be operated entirely on electricity from renewable energy sources, and are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 80.7 tons annually compared to conventional gasoline vehicles. Furthermore, through this Project, the aim is to promote the popularization of EVs, reduce the environmental burden by permeating the sharing economy, diversify means of transportation, and make effective use of official vehicles.
