SmartHR and Finatext to Co-Develop Digital Insurance Marketplace, with SmartHR Pregnancy and Childcare Insurance Planned for Summer 2026

SmartHR, the cloud HR and labor management software operated by SmartHR, Inc., announced that it has begun jointly developing a digital insurance marketplace with Finatext. The marketplace will allow employees to enroll in various insurance products through SmartHR’s employee benefits service, “Hataraku Anata no Money Portal.” By using HR data registered in SmartHR, the marketplace aims to provide insurance products optimized for each employee while reducing operational costs for HR and labor management departments. As the first insurance product offered through the marketplace, SmartHR plans to begin selling “SmartHR Pregnancy and Childcare Insurance” on “Hataraku Anata no Money Portal” in summer 2026. As the importance of human capital management grows, more companies are seeking to support employee well-being through benefits. Group insurance is one option, but implementation has often been difficult because it requires individual negotiations with insurers, complex administrative procedures, and enrollment management, all of which create a heavy workload for companies facing labor shortages. SmartHR provides the cloud HR and labor management software “SmartHR,” used by more than 80,000 registered business tenants, and operates “Hataraku Anata no Money Portal,” an employee benefits service that supports workers’ financial well-being through financial education, insurance products, and asset-building services. Finatext has promoted embedded insurance through its insurance business platform “Inspire,” which provides one-stop functions required for insurance operations, including online quotations, applications, underwriting, contract management, claims, and renewals. The company also has practical insurance expertise through Smartplus Small Amount & Short Term Insurance, a group company that develops and sells insurance products. The joint development combines SmartHR’s corporate customer base and HR data with Finatext’s embedded insurance technology to remove the barriers that have traditionally made workplace insurance difficult to introduce and operate. The new system will be built into “Hataraku Anata no Money Portal,” the benefits service for companies using SmartHR, and will allow employees to enroll in insurance products while using HR data. For employees, information already registered in SmartHR, such as name, date of birth, and family composition, can be used directly in insurance applications, reducing manual input. For employers, insurance guidance, application intake, and enrollment management can be digitized and automated, reducing the burden on HR teams and enabling companies of all sizes to introduce and operate workplace insurance. Going forward, SmartHR and Finatext plan to expand the insurance lineup through partnerships with various insurers, covering life insurance, non-life insurance, and small-amount short-term insurance. They also aim to further strengthen integration with SmartHR’s HR data and automate personalized insurance recommendations based on employees’ life stages and employment situations. Through API integration with Finatext’s Inspire, multiple products from different insurers will be offered in a unified screen and format, allowing employees to complete procedures inside “Hataraku Anata no Money Portal.” Contract management functions are also planned for the same interface. SmartHR and Finatext are also recruiting partner insurers that want to digitize existing insurance products and use the marketplace as a new workplace sales channel. “SmartHR Pregnancy and Childcare Insurance,” planned for release in summer 2026, is designed to cover medical risks related to pregnancy and childbirth. As demand grows for preparation around pregnancy and childbirth, the product aims to help create an environment where employees can continue working with peace of mind. Applications will be available 24 hours a day through “Hataraku Anata no Money Portal.” Premiums start from 950 yen per month and vary by plan. The product can be joined during pregnancy, covers mothers before and after childbirth as well as babies from the day they are born, and includes coverage for home rest and postpartum depression. It offers three simple plan options at 950 yen, 2,990 yen, and 3,990 yen, and users can complete the process from enrollment to receiving insurance benefits by smartphone. The underwriting insurer is Smartplus Small Amount & Short Term Insurance.
