SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation and Itochu Fashion System Co., Ltd. (ifs) will fully expand licensing for the satellite-image-based color brand “SATELLITE CRAYON PROJECT” into the apparel and lifestyle fields. As the first initiative, commercialization has been confirmed with “GLOBAL WORK,” a brand operated by Adastria Co., Ltd. Under the theme “wearing the colors of Earth discovered from space,” a total of nine apparel and miscellaneous goods items will be released. SATELLITE CRAYON PROJECT visualizes “colors that actually exist on Earth,” extracted from satellite images, as crayons while conveying their diversity and background stories. GLOBAL WORK’s brand color, blue, originates from the “Blue Marble,” symbolizing Earth as seen from space. The project’s aim of creating opportunities for people to become interested in Earth resonated with GLOBAL WORK’s roots, resulting in a special collection that connects people with the world through color. The collection offers more than simply wearing clothes. Through products and stores, it provides an experience that helps consumers learn where each color comes from and why it has that tone, broadening their interest in the world and the global environment. Each item comes with a tag featuring a two-dimensional code. By scanning it with a smartphone or similar device, users can access satellite images of the location where the color was sampled, along with a website explaining the story behind it. Some large stores will also feature interactive POP displays where customers can flip over color cards showing only latitude and longitude to reveal satellite images of the place that inspired the color. Pre-orders will begin sequentially from 10:00 a.m. on May 12, 2026, and general sales will begin sequentially from 10:00 a.m. on June 5, 2026. The products will be available at all GLOBAL WORK stores, the official online store and ST, ZOZOTOWN, and Rakuten Fashion. SATELLITE CRAYON PROJECT is a color brand launched by SKY Perfect JSAT, a space business company. Through the colors of Earth captured in satellite photos taken from space, the project aims to communicate the richness of color and encourage people to become interested in and fond of the planet. Its first product, “Sea Crayons,” won numerous awards in Japan and overseas, including major global design awards, the Japan Stationery Grand Prix, and the Good Design Award, and was selected as an official exhibit at the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference. A defining feature is that each color is not given a conventional name; instead, the latitude and longitude of the place where the color was sampled are shown. ifs aims to propose new lifestyle value through products inspired not only by the project’s goal of raising awareness of the global environment but also by the “stories of beautiful colors.” By translating the land, environment, background, and stories tied to each color into intellectual assets based on “color, latitude and longitude, and Earth’s stories,” ifs supports partner companies across product planning, supervision, rights coordination, and promotional material development. Following the GLOBAL WORK apparel launch as the first example, the company plans to expand sublicensing across a wide range of categories, from fashion items to interior goods and daily necessities, bringing the “colors of Earth” into everyday lifestyles.
