SKY Perfect JSAT Survey: Average Willingness to Pay for Lunar Land (30 tsubo/99 sqm) Reaches 3 Million Yen, a First Since the Survey Began

SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation provides satellite communication services in various fields, including broadcasting, aviation/maritime communication, mobile backhaul, and disaster response. In recent years, it has also been working on solutions in disaster prevention and security through the utilization of data from low-Earth orbit observation satellites. On April 12, 'International Day of Human Space Flight', SKY Perfect JSAT conducted an internet survey on 'Space Consciousness' from March 3 to March 5, 2026, targeting 1,000 men and women aged 15 to 69 across Japan to understand their awareness and images regarding space. When asked about interest in space, 50.7% of all respondents expressed interest. By gender and generation, interest was particularly high among men in their 50s (67.5%) and 60s (66.3%). When asked if they believe there are other planets where humans can live, 69.1% said yes. - 15% 'admired astronauts in childhood', 27% among men in their 50s. - 1 in 3 want to go to space at least once, over half of teenage males. - 49% of teenage males 'want to go to space someday'. When asked about wanting to go to space, 34.7% said yes. 10-19 year old males were the highest at 54.2%.
