From 'Aging = Problem' to 'Growth Industry'. Centered on the transition from treatment-focused care to prevention and wellness, key players from Japan and abroad will gather to discuss the social implementation of AgeTech and new business opportunities.

As a side event of SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, SivanS Lab will hold an AgeTech-themed conference titled 'Old School? Smart School! Vol.1 – Reinventing AgeTech' on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at SivanS Lab Tokyo (Higashi, Shibuya-ku).

This event is the first volume (Vol.1) of a theme-based event series developed by SivanS Lab for generating innovation, and continuous events are planned for the future.

■ Background of the Event: Why AgeTech Now?

Japan is an 'advanced problem country' where the population is aging faster than anywhere else in the world. However, nursing and medical care front lines still have a strong tendency to rely on 'operational dependence,' and the use of technology remains fragmented.

On the other hand, overseas (especially in Israel and the U.S.), AgeTech leveraging AI, robotics, and data utilization is rapidly advancing. In Japan, aging is often seen as a 'cost,' but from a global perspective, it holds massive potential as a 'new market and industry.'

This event will act as a 'connecting point' to bridge this gap between Japan and the world, aiming to redefine AgeTech from a 'social issue' to a 'growth industry.'

SivanS Lab, as a 'place that breeds innovation,' plans to hold events 3 to 4 times a year across themes like Mobility, Retail, Sustainability, and AgeTech, rolling out hybrid formats that combine closed sessions and open events.

This event is the kickoff (Vol.1) of the 'AgeTech Series'. By holding Vol.2 and Vol.3 continuously in the future, we will promote a 'community' where speakers and participants can maintain ongoing connections.

■ Theme of Vol.1: Reinventing AgeTech

In Vol.1, we will introduce initiatives that can transform the issue of aging into an industry through AgeTech, such as:

- Creating direct care time by automating fall detection and care records using vision-based AI
- Implementation of in-home preventive medicine via a 'Bathroom Health OS' utilizing daily data from toilets and other areas
- Early anomaly detection through 'cohabitation sensing' that notices minute daily changes while protecting privacy

Furthermore, the speaker lineup consists primarily of 'practical players' such as startup founders and business leaders who are actively driving business on the ground. They will engage in deep discussions from the perspective of social implementation, moving beyond mere knowledge sharing.

By gathering people from diverse backgrounds (startup founders, investors, medical/nursing professionals, technology companies, etc.), we will break down the 'siloed' nature typical of Japanese industries and pioneer new possibilities for AgeTech.
