Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand Expand Joint Network

Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand will significantly expand their joint network between Singapore and New Zealand for the 2026 winter schedule (October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027). This expansion will increase total seat capacity on the Auckland route and introduce new direct flights to Christchurch by Air New Zealand, complementing Singapore Airlines' existing services. This service expansion reflects both airlines' strong commitment to meeting the growing travel demand between Singapore and New Zealand, as well as key markets in Asia and Europe. With this expanded joint network, customers will enjoy smoother connections, a wider variety of flight schedules, and premium travel options. During the 2026 winter schedule, Air New Zealand will operate three weekly flights between Singapore and Christchurch using Boeing 787 aircraft. Combined with Singapore Airlines' current maximum of 12 weekly flights on the Christchurch route, the two airlines will operate 15 weekly flights during the peak period from November 2026 to February 2027. Additionally, Air New Zealand will increase its Auckland route by four weekly flights using Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft. Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines will adjust its schedule from three daily flights to two, and will operate the daily flights (SQ285 and SQ286) using Airbus A380 aircraft instead of the current Boeing 777-300ER. Singapore Airlines' A380 features 471 seats across four classes (6 Suites, 78 Business, 44 Premium Economy, 343 Economy), offering a more comfortable travel experience. This expansion supports not only demand between Singapore and New Zealand but also travel demand between New Zealand and key destinations beyond Singapore within the Singapore Airlines network. Through this expansion, the two airlines will increase total seat capacity between Singapore and New Zealand by 17% (adding 72,000 seats) from late October 2026, with total capacity expected to exceed 490,000 seats during the 2026 winter schedule. Bookings are already open, and the airlines plan to commence the expanded winter schedule from late October 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
