Online Exam Examinee Satisfaction Rises from 51% to 80%, 75% Intend to Retake

Certify Inc. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Shigeru Takizawa; hereinafter "Certify"), which organizes 30 types of business qualification and certification exams across 7 fields, conducted a survey on the satisfaction level of its proprietary examination system, "Remote Web Test."

■Background of the Survey

Our company conducts surveys targeting examinees for each public exam held, continuously gathering feedback on the usage status and satisfaction of the "Remote Web Test."
The Remote Web Test was launched in response to the growing examinee needs for "safe home-based testing" and "access to exams from regional areas and overseas," driven by restrictions on going out and limitations on group exams due to the spread of COVID-19. Even with the current stabilization of the infection situation, its use continues to expand, aligning with social trends such as resolving regional disparities, diversifying examinee work styles and lifestyles, and promoting the digitalization of exam operations.

We are conducting exam preparation seminars that include setup demonstrations and developing tutorials with diagrams and videos to help examinees visualize the setup method.

• Enrichment of Guidance for Examination Environment Preparation

We are considering and promoting initiatives to visually convey examples of suitable rooms and points of caution for examinations, such as comparing and presenting specific examples of examination environments with images.

Regarding future examination intent, 75% expressed a positive attitude towards retaking the exam using the Remote Web Test. This suggests that the convenience and sense of security provided by the service are leading to high evaluations and continued usage intent.

■What Our Company Emphasizes in Remote Web Test

Certify's Remote Web Test offers high convenience, allowing examinees to take exams anywhere as long as they have a device and communication environment. However, our company does not prioritize convenience alone in exam design.

Our exams, while private qualifications, have been used as an "evaluation infrastructure" supporting important decision-making for individuals and organizations, such as for advancement to higher education, promotion, recruitment, and evaluation. Therefore, we prioritize fairness, strictness, and impartiality as our foremost design philosophy, ensuring that "the meaning of the results remains consistent, regardless of who takes the exam or in what environment."

In recent years, with the evolution of technologies such as generative AI, cheating methods in exams have become more sophisticated and elaborate. In such an environment, a certain level of surveillance and verification process is indispensable to correctly evaluate the examinee's true abilities and to establish an exam where results can be held accountable.

Based on this philosophy, our company adopts a two-camera surveillance method to comprehensively verify the examinee's identity, examination environment, and behavior during the test. This is not a mechanism to suspect examinees, but a design to protect the evaluation of those who take the exam legitimately and to ensure the reliability of the exam results.

Moving forward, our company will continue to work on functional improvements, strengthening anti-cheating technology, and enhancing usability to realize an online examination environment where everyone can take exams fairly, regardless of location.
