■Emergency transports due to heatstroke in FY2025 were the highest on record; items that can cool a wide area of the body are effective for heat countermeasures
Due to recent heatwaves, the number of emergency transports due to heatstroke has been increasing. According to data released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the number of transports in FY2025 was 100,510, the highest since the survey began (※1). The government designates April 1st to September 30th each year as the "Heatstroke Prevention Reinforcement Campaign" period, and the Japan Sports Agency is also issuing guidelines for preventing heatstroke accidents during sports activities (※2).
One of the heat countermeasures is to cool the surface of the skin and lower the temperature of the blood beneath the skin to suppress body temperature rise. In particular, it has been reported that cooling a "wide area" of the body's capillaries is more efficient than methods that only cool major arteries (※3), and items that can directly cool a large area of the body are considered effective measures in hot environments.
