Kenshi Hirokane

Born on September 9, 1947, in Yamaguchi Prefecture. After graduating from Waseda University Faculty of Law and working at Matsushita Electric Industrial (now Panasonic), he debuted as a manga artist in 1974 with 'Kaze Kaoru.' Since then, he has created hit works such as the 'Shima Kosaku' series, 'Ningen Kosaten,' 'Hello Harinezumi,' 'Kaji Ryusuke no Gi,' and 'Tasogare Ryuseigun.' He received the Shogakukan Manga Award for 'Ningen Kosaten,' the Kodansha Manga Award for 'Kacho Shima Kosaku,' and the Manga Division Excellence Award at the Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival and the Japan Cartoonists Association Award Grand Prize for 'Tasogare Ryuseigun.' He received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 2007. He is currently serializing 'Shagai Torishimariyaku Shima Kosaku' and 'Tasogare Ryuseigun.' He has also written many books other than manga.
