Himeji-based Glove Manufacturer Showa Glove Donates Entire Proceeds from Charity Sale to the Preservation and Inheritance of Himeji Castle

■ A Charity Connecting Passion for Himeji Castle
As a company rooted in Himeji, we value our connection to the local community and engage in various initiatives. The charity sale held at the World Heritage Himeji Castle Marathon Festival in February 2026 was conducted out of a desire to contribute to the preservation and inheritance of Himeji Castle, the symbol of our local city. On the day of the event, a total of approximately 700 people, including marathon participants and spectators, purchased our gloves. Thanks to this warm support, we were able to donate the full amount of the proceeds.

Regarding this donation, Mr. Mori, Director of the Tourism and Economic Bureau (currently Director-General of the Tourism and Economic Bureau), and Mr. Hiratsuka, Director of the Himeji Castle Management Office, shared their hopes regarding the "Free Admission for Children Under 18" initiative, which began on March 1 of this year. They stated, "We hope this free admission will encourage as many children as possible to experience the true power and history of Himeji Castle through school trips and other opportunities. By having them experience its charm firsthand during their formative years, we hope to cultivate more fans of Himeji Castle. We believe this will lead to the acquisition of future repeat visitors who will return to this land as adults, and ultimately, to the permanent preservation of the castle."
