The masterpiece 'Monkey Turn,' set in the world of boat racing, is now becoming a whisky! Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series with a royal single malt! 'Monkey Turn' (created by Katsutoshi Kawai) is a youth sports manga that follows the protagonist, Kenji Hatano, as he strives to reach the pinnacle of professional boat racing, known as the 'martial arts on the water.' Since its debut in 'Weekly Shonen Sunday' in 1996, the series ran for eight and a half years, spawned TV anime adaptations and pachinko machines, and continues to be supported by many fans today. This year, marking the 30th anniversary of the series, WHISKY MEW is releasing a 'Monkey Turn' label whisky. The whisky selected by critic Hideo Yamaoka is a Royal Brackla 2011. This distillery, established in the 19th century, was granted a Royal Warrant and honored as 'The King’s Own Whisky.' This Royal Brackla 2011 features a sophisticated, fruity aroma reminiscent of pear tart, orange pulp and zest, and grape juice.
