A POP UP SHOP celebrating the 50th anniversary of 'Unico' will be held for a limited time starting April 28 (Tue) in Umeda, Osaka!

From Tuesday, April 28, 2026, to Sunday, May 24, 2026, a POP UP SHOP commemorating the 50th anniversary of 'Unico' will be held at MARUZEN & Junkudo Bookstore Umeda! Starting in Osaka, the event is scheduled to tour various locations nationwide.

At each venue, many original goods featuring the Unico 50th logo and a retro feel will be released. Furthermore, collaboration products with Director Yukashinamon of the 'Showa Girly Culture Research Institute', an influencer who disseminates Showa culture, will also be available!

Showa Girly Culture Research Institute - Director Yukashinamon

Born in 1975. Director of the 'Showa Girly Culture Research Institute', which reminisces and disseminates Showa girly culture from the 1970s and 80s, including stationery, toys, manga, idols, movies, and music. In 2017, she published her first book, ''80S Girly Design Collection' (Graphic-sha), which became a hot topic. The following year, in 2018, she published ''80S Girly Magazine Advertisement Collection' (Graphic-sha), and in 2019, ''80S Girls' Manga Supplement Collection' (Graphic-sha). She continues to expand her activities, with columns about 80s girly culture appearing in various magazines and books.

'Unico' Story Information

The protagonist is Unico, a baby unicorn who brings happiness. An endearing, yet slightly poignant story...

The jealous Goddess of Beauty, Venus, envied the human Psyche for being more beautiful and popular than herself.

Learning that Psyche's happiness came from Unico, a baby unicorn she kept, Venus ordered Zephyrus, the spirit of the West Wind, to throw Unico far away.

Feeling sorry for Unico but unable to disobey the order, Zephyrus takes Unico away beyond the flow of time.

An Indian world, a medieval European castle, a modern European forest, a fairy kingdom, the Russian Empire, and so on...

Unico wanders through all places in all eras, and every time, he loses all his previous memories.
