Wakuden Launches 'Free Museum Day for Elementary School Students' Every Third Sunday at 'Wakuden no Mori' in Kyotango, its Founding Location

Wakuden (Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto) has announced that starting in April 2026, the third Sunday of every month will be designated as "Free Museum Day for Elementary School Students" at "Wakuden no Mori," a forest cultivated in its founding location of Tango.

The purpose is to return to its origins, which coexist with the workings of the forest, and to pass on its value to the next generation.

By opening up opportunities for children to experience nature and art, and by having them feel the richness of food and culture breathing within Wakuden no Mori, the company will connect that value to the next generation.

## ■ Wakuden no Mori — Creating a Forest Nurtured in the Founding Location

Wakuden has always valued its coexistence with nature in Kyotango, its founding location.

In 2007, triggered by an encounter with plant ecologist Akira Miyawaki, the planting of Wakuden no Mori began with the desire to "nurture a forest that will last for hundreds of years." Seedlings were planted together with local residents and people gathered from all over the country, and 30,000 trees of 56 species have been cultivated.

The densely mixed seedlings have grown while competing with each other, and the forest has now expanded into one that bears diverse fruits seasonally, such as butterbur sprouts, shiitake mushrooms, mulberries, Japanese pepper, persimmons, and yuzu.

The natural cycles breathing in this forest and the climate of Tango are the origins of Wakuden's craftsmanship.
