■ Content Introduction

People choose stories more interesting than the truth.
She was burned by the flame of 'rumor'.

25 years ago, a local city that should have been peaceful was shaken by the occurrence of a department store receptionist kidnapping and murder case and its media coverage, and a massive flame of 'rumor' poured down and burned fiercely. The lingering karma in the town, which seemed to have regained its quiet, now triggers a new incident.

"They're already saying it! They're saying, 'Her parents must have killed her!'"

I flinched, overwhelmed by the words.

I stared at Eri with wide eyes. My daughter, staring back at Chuji with red eyes, wasn't crying.

"They're already saying it! I know! Everyone's saying it's strange for this family to suffer like this twice, that there must be something wrong with the parents or the family!"

■ Author's Comment

Major incidents captivate people.

"I know because I'm from the area, but actually..."

"My friend's friend is involved, and I heard..."

"That victim, actually..."

Why are 'we' so eager to get involved in incidents?

I have always wished that if I were to write about that someday in a novel, I would be the one to write it.

Its title is 'Fire Dome'.

The setting is a mountain town, similar to a city sleeping in a snow globe where snow flutters when shaken.

At the bottom of that town, there's a flame that's usually invisible, but it burns when shaken.

The rumors surrounding the kidnapping and murder case that happened in the past are that flame.

I poured my everything into writing it.

Please look forward to 'Fire Dome'.
