■ Content Introduction
People choose stories that are more interesting than the truth.
She was burned by the flames of 'rumor'.
25 years ago, a peaceful local city was shaken by the kidnapping and murder of a department store receptionist and its media coverage, with massive flames of 'rumor' raining down and burning fiercely. The lingering karma, which seemed to have finally brought back tranquility to the town, now triggers a new incident—.
"They're already saying it! They're saying, 'Their parents must have killed her!'"
I flinched at the words, overwhelmed.
I stared at Eri with wide eyes. My daughter, staring back at Chuji with red eyes, wasn't crying.
"They're already saying it! I know! Everyone's saying it's strange for this family to suffer like this twice, and that there must be something about the parents or family!"

■ Author's Comment
Major incidents captivate people.
"I know because I'm from the area, but actually..."
"My friend's friend is involved, and I heard..."
"That victim, what was she really like...?"
Why do 'we' want to be involved in incidents so much?
I have always wished that if I were to write about this someday in a novel, I would be the one to write it.
The title is 'Fire Dome'.
The setting is a local city nestled in the mountains, similar to a town sleeping in a snow globe where snow flutters when shaken.
At the bottom of that city, though usually unseen, there are flames submerged that ignite when shaken.
The rumors surrounding the kidnapping and murder incident that occurred in the past are those flames.
I poured my everything into writing this.
'Fire Dome', please look forward to it.
