A colorful lineup of five works

The "April Grand Kabuki" features a festive and vibrant "Kuruwa Sanbaso" befitting the opening of spring, the full-length play "Ura Omote Sendai Hagi" where Kikugoro Onoe VIII captivated with three diverse roles, "Honcho Nijushiko Jikkoshu" where Tokizo Nakamura challenged the major female role of Yaegaki-hime for the first time (one of the three princess roles considered major roles for Onnagata), the masterpiece dance "Renjishi" depicting parent-child affection, and the masterpiece comedy "Ukare Shinju" inherited by Kankuro Nakamura and Shichinosuke Nakamura from their father, the 18th Kanzaburo Nakamura. All performances are spectacular.

And for this "Renjishi," a special streaming-exclusive interview featuring Ukon Onoe, who played the parent lion, and Maho Onoe, who played the cub lion, has been recorded.

This is their second co-performance in "Renjishi" since Ukon's independent performance "The 8th Ken no Kai." This time at the Kabuki-za marks their first challenge in these roles. Looking back on the period they faced each other as parent and child on stage, they candidly discuss their feelings while performing, and Ukon, a rising young talent, shares his thoughts on the inheritance of performance art to Maho, who will carry the next generation. Please look forward to this interview, which offers a glimpse into their relationship, resembling both parent and child, and also close brothers despite their age difference.
