[Sapporo] Urban outdoor festival accessible by train returns this year. Approximately 40 artists from Hokkaido and beyond, including guests from Tokyo and Kansai, to perform at 'MTG ~Ma-ii-kara Tekito-ni Groove~ 2026' on July 4th and 5th.

It has been decided that the urban outdoor festival 'MTG ~Ma-ii-kara Tekito-ni Groove~,' which held its inaugural event in the Sumikawa area of Sapporo in 2025, will take place again from Saturday, July 4, to Sunday, July 5, 2026.

This event was born as a cultural festival where music, art, food, and workshops intersect, centered around artists based in Sapporo.

For 2026, approximately 40 artists are scheduled to perform, including acts from both within and outside Hokkaido, with participants expected from the Tokyo and Kansai regions as well.

■ More than just music: A space where cultures intersect

A major feature of MTG is that it is not just a music event, but a place where various cultures intersect.

Last year, the venue featured a skate ramp for attendees to enjoy, alongside a diverse array of vendors including vintage clothing stores, Pilates studios, and illustrators.

In 2026, we plan to host about 30 shops and artists, allowing attendees to engage with culture in their own style. Beyond listening to music, visitors can enjoy shopping, physical activities, and art, creating an experience that engages all five senses.

■ The 'roaming experience' unique to an urban festival

The biggest feature of MTG is that it is an 'urban outdoor festival' held in the city center.

With a location accessible by train or taxi, it is easy for both visitors from afar and locals to drop by as part of their daily routine.

During the 2025 event, a natural flow emerged where attendees would enjoy music at the venue, head to local restaurants in the Sumikawa area for a meal, and then return to the venue, creating a dynamic of 'moving between the city and the festival.'

The ability to enjoy the event by involving the entire town, rather than just the event itself, is the unique charm of MTG.
