Shishigami Company (Headquarters: Higashishirakawa Village, Gifu Prefecture, Representative: Fusakuni Taguchi) officially launched its new service for forest owners, **"MORI:SEARCH,"** on April 1, Reiwa 8 (April 1, 2026). MORI:SEARCH is a service that identifies the location of owned forests based on public documents such as fixed asset tax ledgers and registration information.

■ Background: Forests "Whose Location is Unknown" Despite Being Owned

"I inherited a forest, but I don't know where it is."

Many forest owners across Japan face this challenge.

Even though they pay fixed asset taxes every year, they have never actually visited the forest and don't know where it is — to solve the problem of such “unidentified owned forests,” the forest location identification service “MORI:SEARCH” was launched.

It goes without saying that forest utilization is a crucial theme for future society, but the fact that many owners are unable to grasp the location of their own forests has become a hidden social issue hindering forest utilization.

『If you know where the forest is, the future opens up.』

We hope that MORI:SEARCH will further promote forest utilization.

■ Service Details

● MORI:SEARCH identifies forest locations based on the following information:

Fixed asset tax statements (ledgers, name registers) / Registry books and official maps / Forest inventory data / Topographical maps

By combining these, a report visualizing the location of the target forest on a map is provided.

Applicants do not need to prepare all these documents; for example, the “fixed asset tax ledger” sent when paying fixed asset tax is sufficient for identification.

※A confidentiality agreement will be concluded regarding the handling of personal information and asset information.

● Fees (Post-payment)

The basic fee for MORI:SEARCH is 33,000 yen (tax included) per request.

Within a single municipality, any number of parcels will be covered by the basic fee. If multiple municipalities are to be investigated simultaneously, an additional fee of 22,000 yen (per municipality) will be charged for the investigation.

Payment is made after you are satisfied with the report, ensuring peace of mind with our post-payment system.

● Positioning of MORI:SEARCH

MORI:SEARCH is strictly a “identification” service for understanding the location of forests and does not involve boundary demarcation or legal validity.

● Difference between Identification and Demarcation

“Identification” here refers to reasonably estimating the location of the target forest and indicating it on a map based on public documents (fixed asset tax ledgers, registry books, official maps, forest inventory, etc.) and topographical information. “Demarcation” refers to legally and publicly establishing the boundaries and location of land through agreement with adjacent landowners and surveying.
