Only about 40% of high school students are familiar with The Beatles! Their top favorite song is the one frequently featured in variety shows, commercials, and many other media!
June 29 marks the day when the legendary British rock band "The Beatles" first arrived in Japan!
For this occasion, YTJP conducted a nationwide survey among high school students about "The Beatles."
First, here are the results for the question, "Do you know The Beatles?"

For both male and female students, the largest group responded, "I know the name, but not many of their songs"—36.4% of males and 41.2% of females.
The percentage of students who answered "don't know" was slightly higher among females than males.
Additionally, among those who answered "know and have favorite songs," we asked, "Which Beatles song do you like most?" The results are as follows:

The #1 favorite song among both genders was 'Let It Be.' Featured in many media outlets, including the TV Tokyo program 'Iidaite Itte Ii Desu ka?' (Can I Come Along Home With You?), nearly 40% of both males and females selected this song.
'Help!' ranked #2 among males and #3 among females. It is famously used as the opening theme for TV Tokyo's 'Kaiun! Nan demo Kanteidan' (Fortune Telling Antiques Appraisal).
'Yesterday,' which appears in music and English textbooks, ranked #2 among females and also made it into the top 5 for males at #4.
'Hey Jude' ranked #3 among males and #5 among females.
'Hello, Goodbye' ranked #5 among males and #4 among females.

【About YOUTH TIME JAPAN project】
A network centered on high school broadcasting clubs and student councils across Japan. Since its founding in 1998, the project has been dedicated to supporting and promoting "media education" and "career education" for high school students who will shape the future. Through its media platform YTJP web, the project publishes various information, including the "High School Student Survey" (based on approximately 1,000 students nationwide) and "National High School News," reporting on student activities.
