A children’s literature author based in Tokyo. Member of the Japanese Association of Children's Literature Writers and the Wild Bird Society of Japan. He writes children’s fiction as well as nonfiction on birds, nature, and biographies. His works 'The Revived Jomon Capital: Sannai-Maruyama Site' (Kosei Publishing) and 'A Great Study of Sparrows' (PHP Institute) received the Sankei Juvenile Publishing Culture Award Recommended Prize. He won the 7th Fukuda Kiyohito Award for 'Crested Ibis: Soar into the Future' (Kumon Publishing). In 2019, he received the 2nd Children's Literary Nonfiction Award Special Prize for his body of work and his research book 'The Power of Nonfiction Children's Literature' (Bunkidō). He also received the 64th Children's Cultural Merit Award. Other notable works include 'Miyazawa Kenji: The World of Birds' (Shogakukan), 'A Wonderful Earth with Birds' (Bunkidō), and 'Hoshino Michio: Capturing the Life of Alaska' (PHP Institute).
