Sakura Momoko
Born in Shimizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture (now Shimizu Ward) in 1965. Debuted as a manga artist in 1984. Began serialization of "Chibi Maruko-chan" in "Ribon" in 1986, received the Kodansha Manga Award in 1989, and it became a national hit when adapted into an anime in 1990. She also wrote the ending theme song "Odoru Ponpokorin," which won the Japan Record Award that year. Since then, she has been highly successful with her works, a perfect blend of nonsense, fairy tales, and comedy. Her essay trilogy "Momo no Kan-zume" all became million-sellers. Other works include manga "COJI COJI" and "Kami no Chikarakko Shinbun," and essay collections "Ano Koro" trilogy and "Hitorizumo." The magazine "Fujisan" (5 issues), for which Sakura Momoko served as editor-in-chief, was also a major topic.
