<Milan Design Week 2026> we+ and Shimadzu Corporation Collaborate on "In-Between Matter" Installation

Design studio we+ will collaborate with Shimadzu Corporation to present an installation titled "In-Between Matter" during Milan Design Week 2026, from April 20 (Monday) to April 26 (Sunday), 2026, at "Cavallerizze" in the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology, located in Milan's 5VIE area.

This exhibition marks their second participation in Milan Design Week, following the research project "WONDER POWDER" announced with Shimadzu Corporation in 2024. Collaborating with Shimadzu Corporation, which has contributed to the advancement of science through diverse technologies since its founding in 1875, the exhibition aims to make science "sensory experienced" rather than "explained," showcasing works inspired by Shimadzu's analytical instruments.

Returning to the origin of pure curiosity and moments that move the heart, which lie behind the endeavor of unraveling logic and data, the exhibition creates a space where visitors can experience phenomena that emerge "In-Between Matter."

Building on the previous exhibition "WONDER POWDER," which presented the charm of science through a specific material and phenomenon—powder—this exhibition expands its scope to more abstract scientific concepts such as "separation" and "boundaries." It embodies Shimadzu Corporation's commitment to visualization, pursued through its analytical instruments, as an artistic work. The process of "separation of substances," which is central to analytical and measurement technologies cultivated in fields such as pharmaceuticals, food, chemistry, semiconductors, transportation equipment, and environment, is offered as an experience that traverses sensibility and logic through devices that allow for sensory perception. This aims to create moments where the perception of the world subtly changes, fostering interest and aspirations in science.
