Shimada Mirai Foundation to Host Awareness Event on May 16 (Sat): "Considering New Designs to Confront the Super-Aging Society"

The Shimada Mirai Foundation (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / Representative Director: Shigeaki Shimada) will hold an awareness-raising event on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Professor Yasuyuki Taki, a physician and professor at Tohoku University's Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer, and a member of the Foundation's scholarship selection committee, will deliver a keynote speech on "Lifelong Healthy Brains," covering ideas and practices for maintaining brain health throughout life. In addition, there will be a lecture by Mr. Shigeyuki Kurihara, Representative Director of Shimada Travel Partners Co., Ltd., which organizes care travel, activity reports by 2025 scholarship students, and a panel discussion on the theme of "How to Generate New Ideas." Program ■ Keynote Speech by Dr. Yasuyuki Taki: "Theme: Lifelong Healthy Brain" Professor / Physician / Doctor of Medicine, Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer, Tohoku University Engaged in research to elucidate the mechanisms of brain development and aging by creating a database using brain MRI images. He has interpreted and analyzed brain MRIs for over 160,000 people. His books include "Lifelong Healthy Brain" (Soleil Publishing) and "Recalling Brain: Important Habits for a Healthy Brain" (Seishun Publishing). As a member of the Foundation's scholarship selection committee, he will speak about ideas and practices for maintaining brain health throughout life, such as travel and nostalgia, along with the Foundation's aspirations. ■ Lecture by Mr. Shigeyuki Kurihara: "Theme: The Future of Care Travel" Shimada Travel Partners Co., Ltd. plans travel for the elderly, virtual tours, and universal tourism at the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
