Shimada House Co., Ltd. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Kazuaki Shimada) is pleased to announce that "Hakone Tsutaya Ryokan" (Hakone-machi, Kanagawa Prefecture), which it operates, has received the "Traveller Review Awards 2026" from Booking.com, one of the world's largest accommodation booking sites, an award given to facilities highly supported by guests. This marks the fourth consecutive year of receiving the award, and this year we have been highly rated with a review score of "9.3". As a "base in Hakone" where travelers gather and converse, we will continue to provide heartwarming "good times" that will be etched into a page of everyone's life. ## About the Traveller Review Awards The "Traveller Review Awards" is an annual recognition program implemented by Booking.com, one of the world's largest accommodation booking platforms, to honor facilities that provide excellent service and hospitality. The biggest feature of this award is that it uses only reviews from actual guests as evaluation criteria. Each year, it is awarded to facilities that meet a certain standard of review score and have received more than the prescribed number of reviews. Hakone Tsutaya Ryokan achieved a score of 9.3 and has now received the "Traveller Review Awards 2026". We owe this wonderful award to all the guests who chose our ryokan as their accommodation in Hakone and who shared their experiences in their reviews. We will continue to strive to provide wonderful and memorable stays for everyone. ## About Hakone Tsutaya Ryokan Hakone Tsutaya Ryokan was renovated and reopened on November 26, 2019 (Good Bath Day), inheriting the historic hot spring inn "Tsutaya Ryokan" founded by Tsutaya Heizaemon in the Edo period. It is a long-established ryokan-style guesthouse where guests can enjoy the natural hot spring source of "Sokokura Onsen," counted as one of the Hakone Seven Hot Springs. The "Onsen Lounge" facing the Jakotsugawa river features an iconic counter shaped like a bath tub, antique furniture, the "SOKOKURA GALLERY" introducing the history of Sokokura Onsen, benches inspired by teahouses, and window-side desk spaces overlooking the forest and river, creating a space where travelers naturally gather and relax while enjoying the good old Japanese culture. ## About the Hot Spring "Sokokura Onsen" has a history of over 500 years. Hakone Tsutaya Ryokan is the only accommodation facility where you can enjoy its hot spring source. It is said that Toyotomi Hideyoshi built a stone bath in Hakone Sokokura during his Odawara Castle campaign to heal the fatigue and wounds of his soldiers. In the open-air bath, you can hear the sounds of the nearby Jakotsugawa river and Taiko Falls carried on the wind. The large public bath uses Izu Aoiishi (blue stone) entirely from the floor to the bathtub, expressing a modern hot spring cure atmosphere. Izu Aoiishi has a pleasant texture and becomes bluer and shines beautifully when wet. We offer one indoor and one outdoor bath for men and women, both fed directly from the hot spring source. Please enjoy a moment of healing for your mind and body in the waters of Sokokura. ## Regarding Accommodation Solo travelers are very welcome! We also have cabin-type rooms. Reservations are accepted via Tsutaya's website and various booking sites.
