Shikoku Aquarium (located in Utazu-cho, Ayauta-gun, Kagawa Prefecture) is holding a special exhibition titled "Ocean Flower News: Cherry Blossom Viewing Exhibition" from Saturday, March 28, 2026, to Sunday, April 12, 2026, featuring creatures associated with cherry blossoms.

In line with the season when cherry blossoms reach their peak, this exhibition showcases beautiful creatures that evoke the image of cherry blossoms.

The Sakuradai (sea goldie) is said to have been named for the white patterns on the male's body, which resemble cherry blossom petals. The Hanashako (peacock mantis shrimp) is known for using the base of its round, developed raptorial appendages to deliver powerful strikes to prey such as shellfish and crabs. While its strength often draws attention, its body color has a pale pink hue, possessing a beauty that brings cherry blossom petals to mind.

Additionally, the area around the tank is decorated with cherry blossoms to create a space where you can feel the atmosphere of flower viewing. Please enjoy this unique aquarium-style cherry blossom viewing experience while observing these creatures, which are as beautiful as cherry blossoms, inside the tank.
