Ethical Creative Collective SHIFT80 (Representative: Miggy Sakata), triggered by winning the KG+ Discovery Award 2025 (Supported by Fujifilm), will open its new exhibition 'Welcome to our life in Kibera slum' at 'KG+', a satellite program of the KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival, from Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Sfera in Kyoto.

## Creativity of Living Hidden Behind the Image of "Poverty"
Kibera, a sprawling slum in Kenya's capital Nairobi, is one of the largest slums in Africa. Hearing the name of the place where hundreds of thousands of people live in dense conditions, many people think of "poverty." However, how many people have actually seen what lies beyond the doors of each home?

What this exhibition captures is the creativity of living inside those homes. People who color their own spaces with limited resources and create joy in their daily lives. There, you can find pride, aesthetic sense, and a solid will to live that cannot be fully described by words from the outside.

This exhibition is not a "record of poverty." It is an attempt to present the resilience of human activity head-on.

## Works Born from 13 Years of Trust
SHIFT80 members have been involved with the Kibera community since 2013, accumulating a wide range of activities such as educational support, child protection, entrepreneurship support, and cultural and arts support. This work was born from the relationship of trust built over those many years. The photographer in charge was Ryo Matsuchika. He was invited inside their homes and captured the daily lives of the people living there.

The new works unveiled in this exhibition were shot with a FUJIFILM GFX100RF.

## Designing an Equal Encounter, Not "Support"
SHIFT80 is a creative collective that tackles social issues through art, design, and fashion under the philosophy of "We are all Earthlings. Share the little you have."

What this exhibition questions is not the relationship of "supporting/being supported," but the resonance born from touching the lives of people living in far-off places. We hope that the creativity of the people living in Kibera will bring new insights to the viewers' own values.
