Sharing Design Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yusuke Ujimoto; hereinafter "SDI") announces that it has been selected as a cooperating operator in the "Cooperative Sharing Deployment" promoted by the Japan Mobile Communications Infrastructure Association (hereinafter "JMCIA"). As the first initiative under this cooperative trial, SDI has completed the activation of 5G radio waves for four mobile carriers via infrastructure sharing at Shin-Kobe Station on the Kobe Municipal Subway in Hyogo Prefecture.

JMCIA promotes a framework where mobile carriers jointly deploy and operate telecom infrastructure in environments shielded from radio waves, such as subway stations and tunnels. In these public spaces, there is a need to ensure stable communication quality for a large number of unspecified users within limited installation space, prompting joint deployment by carriers historically. In recent years, with the advancement of 5G and increasing communication demand, a public call for proposals was held to accelerate cooperative deployment with sharing operators to further promote 5G adoption.

To date, SDI has promoted 5G measures at subway stations primarily on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line of Tokyu Railways, as well as subway stations of the Osaka Metro. Through these initiatives, SDI has accumulated expertise in design, construction, and adjustment under highly constrained environments like subway stations and railway facilities. These achievements were highly evaluated, leading to SDI's selection as a cooperating operator for this project.

In this project, as a sharing operator and the main entity for 5G facility deployment, SDI was responsible for the design, construction, and introduction—including the consideration of equipment configuration—and built the facilities based on the requirements of the mobile carriers. Under a scheme where JMCIA serves as the hub for coordination and contracting with facility managers and mobile carriers, our company drives the project forward as the executing entity.

By constructing shared facilities capable of simultaneous operation by multiple carriers in high-traffic and highly restricted environments like subway stations, we achieved both improved communication quality and equipment efficiency. This has made it possible to provide stable 5G communication services at Shin-Kobe Station.

Moving forward, SDI will continue to contribute to the advancement of telecom infrastructure and the realization of sustainable network deployment by promoting infrastructure sharing at subway stations, transportation hubs, and large-scale facilities in cooperation and collaboration with related operators, including mobile carriers and facility owners.
