ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), the "AI control tower" for business transformation, today announced the general availability of "Build Agent" within ServiceNow Studio at its annual customer and partner event "Knowledge 2026." Furthermore, its core skills have been extended to Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot. This allows developers to develop from any environment while maintaining the full context and governance of the ServiceNow AI Platform. Additionally, by providing free access to "App Engine Management Center," it assists in managing applications before deployment, and the revamped "AI Agent Studio" simplifies how developers create and scale AI agents at scale.

The proliferation of AI coding tools has accelerated code generation speed like never before. However, applications built outside of a governed platform often pose risks, leading to technical debt and non-compliance with regulatory requirements. As a result, the problem of "shadow development"—where ungoverned apps proliferate faster than IT departments can secure them—is becoming serious. Building apps that will never be adopted is nothing more than a waste of AI investment. At the same time, platform administrators, business analysts, and citizen developers who are closest to the on-site challenges have lacked easy-to-use, AI-native tools. ServiceNow addresses both of these challenges by expanding the users who can build enterprise applications, while also helping ensure that all deliverables meet enterprise standards by default.

Jithin Bhasker, Group Vice President and General Manager of Creator Workflows and App Engine at ServiceNow, stated, "Vibe coding dramatically changes the speed of building. However, speed-focused development without governance or an enterprise runtime often results in apps that appear complete but are not suitable for practical operation. We enable everyone to build on ServiceNow using the IDEs, coding agents, and design tools they are already familiar with, ensuring that their deliverables meet enterprise requirements from the moment they are deployed."

Build Anywhere, Run and Manage Everything on ServiceNow

Whether developers work within ServiceNow Studio, from their preferred IDE, or using an AI coding agent, the experience will be AI-native and governed.

The core skills of Build Agent are now available through the ServiceNow SDK, allowing developers to leverage the full intelligence of the platform wherever they build. Once deployed to the ServiceNow AI Platform, all applications inherit enterprise-grade audit trails, security checks, compliance, scalability, and performance. Developers also have access to their own sandbox environments for testing and validation before going live. After going live, all applications are directly connected to the workflows, data, and systems that carry out enterprise-wide operations. For users who prefer the security and context of building directly on the platform.
