They are mainly installed in factories and storage facilities that handle hazardous materials, and in parking lots where many gasoline-powered vehicles are parked. When a fire occurs, a foam-water solution is discharged from numerous foam heads equipped in the foam fire extinguishing system, covering the burning surface with foam. This reduces the contact area between the burning material and air, leading to extinguishment; this is what a foam fire extinguishing system does. The foam-water solution for foam fire extinguishing is made by mixing fresh water and a concentrate, and this concentrate contains a type of organic fluorine compound (PFAS). Some PFAS are regulated internationally by the POPs Treaty, and currently, three types of PFAS, including PFOS, are designated as Class I Specified Chemical Substances. However, due to concerns about high environmental load and potential toxicity, the number of designated PFAS-related substances is likely to increase in the future. Foam fire extinguishing agents containing organic fluorine compounds (PFAS) are widely used in hazardous material facilities, parking lot foam fire extinguishing systems, and chemical fire trucks due to their high fire extinguishing performance for oil fires. However, due to concerns about high environmental load and potential toxicity, regulations and bans on the use of PFAS are progressing, mainly in the United States and Europe. It possesses not only safety and environmental consideration but also high fire extinguishing performance. Both fresh water and seawater can be used as dilution water, and it extinguishes fires by quickly covering the burning surface by generating various foams, from low expansion to high expansion, depending on the application. Its expansion ratio, foam reduction time, extinguishing time, sealing property, and fire resistance all clear regulatory standards with both fresh water and synthetic seawater, allowing for reliable preparation for contingencies. Furthermore, 10 types of PFAS, including specific PFAS and the three types of Class I Specified Chemical Substances regulated by the Chemical Substances Control Law, are below the detection limit. In an extinguishing test simulating a gasoline fire in a parking lot, the fire was extinguished in 45 seconds from the start of discharge. AwaAwa10 is a safe, next-generation foam fire extinguishing agent that supports the realization of an SDGs society.
