Sumitomo Densetsu Introduces Driver's License Acquisition Cost Support System

Sumitomo Densetsu Co., Ltd. introduced a support system for automobile driver's license acquisition costs for new high school graduate technical staff, effective April 1, 2026. This measure addresses the declining working population and severe labor shortages in the construction industry. As part of its mid-term management plan "VISION2030" (fiscal years 2025-2030), which emphasizes "strengthening human resource securing," the company aims to reduce employees' economic and psychological burdens, foster a secure working environment, and enhance talent acquisition and retention. The system provides up to 330,000 JPY for ordinary driver's license acquisition to eligible staff who obtain the license before joining or within one year of joining, paid during their first summer or winter bonus. This applies to new high school graduate technical staff hired from fiscal year 2026 onwards.
