Encountering sake vessels while traveling
NONJOHN, the brand presenting this exhibition, primarily develops works centered on sake vessels. With the motto "TO SAVOR ALCOHOL MORE," NONJOHN proposes sake vessels as entities that can slightly change one's mood during daily evening drinks or moments spent with loved ones.
The texture that fits comfortably in hand, the expression of the sake poured, and the atmosphere of time that changes with the vessel. Sake vessels are not merely for pouring sake; they are also objects that bring small changes and richness to the time spent enjoying it.
This exhibition will allow visitors to experience both the practicality and the aesthetic beauty of NONJOHN's sake vessels. Through the forms, material textures, and sensations when held, visitors can imagine their time spent at home or moments enjoying sake while viewing the works.
Furthermore, the exhibited works are available for purchase at the venue. Please enjoy the works you encounter during your travels in your daily evening drinks and at your dining table at home.
Artist Comment | NONJOHN
NONJOHN is a brand that designs time for enjoying sake through craftsmanship and experience creation, starting with sake vessels designed based on the function of "TO SAVOR ALCOHOL MORE."
We are pleased to have been invited by GALLERIA MIDOBARU to hold our first solo exhibition.
In this exhibition, we define the true pleasure of travel as "experiencing what can only be found in that specific land" and focus on "sake," which has individuality in each region, where freshness and background are directly linked to its taste.
We invite you to view the products designed to make Japanese sake taste even more delicious, along with the concepts and production processes behind them. Many of the exhibits are also available for purchase, so please take them in hand and feel the richness of time spent savoring sake.
What is Sekiya Art Room 0?
Sekiya Art Room 0 is an exhibition project focusing on young and local artists, with the theme of "a place where unknown lights shine in the quiet intimacy of a hotel room."
Leveraging the characteristic of GALLERIA MIDOBARU, an accommodation facility, to "fuse stay and art," we aim to create a space where visitors can naturally engage with the artworks.
Time spent while traveling often has a little more room to look at things slowly than usual. While enjoying hot springs, dining, and the stay itself, one might serendipitously encounter an artwork and be touched by its sensibility. Sekiya Art Room 0 is an exhibition project that delivers such experiences.
