Sekisui Heim Tohoku to Open First SEKISUIHEIM Sumai Design Lounge Locations in Aomori, Fukushima and Akita

Sekisui Heim Tohoku Co., Ltd. (Head office: Miyagino-ku, Sendai; President and Representative Director: Shinjiro Yamaji) will open the first three locations of its new comprehensive consultation facility, “SEKISUIHEIM Sumai Design Lounge,” on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Aomori, Fukushima and Akita. Additional openings are planned in Furukawa in late June and Aizu in late July. The Sekisui Heim Group aims to create homes for the future and has promoted housing that allows residents to live safely and comfortably for more than 60 years while remaining environmentally friendly. As part of this effort, the company is opening a comprehensive consultation facility covering new homes (building and buying), remodeling (maintenance and improvement), and real estate (selling and leasing), helping customers live with confidence after construction and maintain the long-term value of their homes. Japan’s new Basic Plan for Housing, approved by the Cabinet in March, emphasizes improving “housing literacy,” enabling residents to make informed choices based on an understanding of housing performance, prices and future lifestyles. The new facility is designed to explain housing value and lifestyles from a long-term perspective and promote integrated understanding of new construction, remodeling and real estate. Each location will have specialists in new construction and remodeling on site to handle a wide range of housing consultations. The lounges will explain architectural knowledge, financial planning and key points for homebuilding so that customers can continue living safely over the long term, rather than simply ending the process at construction. They will also introduce regional space and floor-plan trends, key planning points and building examples to support more informed homebuilding decisions. The main features of SEKISUIHEIM Sumai Design Lounge are: resident specialists in new construction, remodeling and related fields; a one-stop consultation desk through cooperation among group companies; guidance on housing lifecycle costs, including utility expenses, for long-term secure living; and introductions to space and floor-plan trends and building examples in the Tohoku area to help customers build homes with higher satisfaction and confidence. In the new construction field, the facility will provide support for land searches in nearby areas, building plan consultations, post-construction mortgage repayment planning, popular local building trends, tailored building examples, and general homebuilding knowledge. In remodeling, it will provide information on recent trends, subsidies and points to watch. In real estate, it will explain how to maintain asset value while selling at a favorable price, as well as how to rent out one’s home to earn rental income. The facility is based on the concepts of “living safely for a long time” and “continuing to maintain the asset value of the home.” Visitors will be guided through multiple zones, including a first-step lifestyle zone explaining lifecycle costs through videos and slides, a space and equipment experience zone where visitors can walk through and touch actual LDK and wet-area spaces, and a Heim philosophy zone explaining Sekisui Heim’s commitment to environmentally friendly homes where residents can live comfortably and safely for more than 60 years. In the Tohoku region, interest in snow, cold-weather and earthquake countermeasures is higher than the national average. The region also has a high share of dual-income households, creating strong demand for efficient housework flows. The lounges will present popular spaces, floor-plan points and real examples tailored to these regional needs, helping customers create homes that improve quality of life after move-in. The first three locations will open in Aomori at 2-7-12 Hamada, Aomori City; in Akita at 4-15 Kawamoto Yamashitamachi, Akita City; and in Fukushima at 41-1 Iwata, Toriyano, Fukushima City, all on May 16. The Furukawa location, at 3-4-37 Furukawa Ekimae Odori, Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, is scheduled to open in late June. The Aizu location, in Iidera Minami 4-chome, Aizuwakamatsu City, is scheduled to open in late July.
