Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd.
Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. (President: Ikusuke Shimizu) is committed to achieving zero emissions at its business sites by thoroughly implementing 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) throughout the product lifecycle. These activities will continue in the future, and aiming for the realization of a circular economy by 2050 and a recycling-oriented society, we are promoting recycling, including resource transformation centered on plastic raw materials (utilization of non-fossil and renewable materials) and the development and social implementation of waste recycling technologies.
The Environment & Lifeline Company (President: Yoshiyuki Hirai) manufactures and sells many infrastructure products such as resin water pipes and railway sleepers, which require long-life durability. However, the composite technology used to create this "strength" had become the biggest barrier to recycling. We were able to break through this major hurdle with recycling technology established through a reversed way of thinking from manufacturing, and the thorough efforts of waste separation at the manufacturing sites. Furthermore, we took a big step towards resource circulation with the concept of "doing it together" through collaboration with other companies for what cannot be done by individual companies.
The Environment & Lifeline Company positions this initiative not as mere volunteerism, but as "management strategy," and will continue further challenges towards "100% material recycling rate by 2030" and "realization of a circular economy by 2050," which are also company-wide policies.
