Sekiguchidaimachi Elementary School PTA
Sekiguchidaimachi Elementary School PTA (Location: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter "Sekidai Elementary PTA") has been working on reviewing its PTA activities and operations to align with the times, taking the opportunity of the 100th anniversary of the opening of Bunkyo City Sekiguchidaimachi Elementary School and the 100th anniversary of the PTA's establishment. Starting this fiscal year, we will further strengthen cooperation with the community, alumni, faculty and staff, and parents, and launch new initiatives to make PTA activities attractive and meaningful, encouraging discovery, learning, and awareness among children.
Sekidai Elementary PTA supports April Dream, which aims to make April 1st a day to announce dreams. This press release is a dream of "Sekidai Elementary PTA."

Background of the Initiatives
In recent years, the review of PTAs has often been discussed in society due to changes in the social environment, such as the increased burden on parents caused by the rise in dual-income households. At Sekidai Elementary PTA, after conducting surveys and dialogues with parents, we clarified membership enrollment and withdrawal procedures last year and reviewed activity content to suit modern times. We have worked on reforms to create a PTA where each member can participate voluntarily and enjoyably, supporting each other, making parents, children, and teachers happy, rather than being compulsory.
As a result, the series of reforms have been successfully implemented. To sustain these achievements, Sekidai Elementary PTA will now move to the next stage, aiming to enhance the unique appeal of the PTA and raise its significance, thereby making it a PTA that people naturally want to join, and will challenge new initiatives.
PTA Reform Initiatives to Date
The following reviews were implemented in fiscal year 2025 (Reiwa 7):
・Clarification of membership enrollment and withdrawal procedures
・Review of the operational structure (decision-making bodies reduced from 3 tiers to 2 tiers)
・Review of committee activities (abolition of activities like Bellmark. Implementation of tasks by those who can, when they can, what they can)
・Review of membership fees (fees reduced by approximately half. Abolition of fee collection from faculty and staff members)

New Initiatives from Fiscal Year 2026 (Reiwa 8)
Following the simplification of PTA activities and operations, we will challenge the following new initiatives that will bring new discoveries, learning, and insights to children, and excitement to adults:
・Initiatives utilizing parents' skills, expertise, and connections
・Circulation of learning and experience from alumni to current students (lectures + discussions for children / company visits, etc.)
・Community-linked initiatives (cooperation with nearby universities, etc.)
・Creating a movement by disseminating initiatives inside and outside the PTA

Details of the Sekidai Elementary PTA's review content are available on the Sekidai Elementary PTA website (https://www.sekidaipta.org/). We will also continuously disseminate information about new initiatives starting this fiscal year. We believe there may be points of reference for other school PTAs, so please refer to it.
