The lead feature, "A New 'Utsuwa' (Tableware) Directory," introduces 50 up-and-coming artists currently drawing global attention. In "The New Trend in 'Luxury Condominiums'," we explore the design technique of "skeleton renovations" by leading architects of our time. This April, an exhibition of "Nachi Falls" paintings by 11 contemporary artists—Norio Shinoda, Ryo Shiotani, Toshiyuki Enoki, Tadashi Okuyama, Toshiyuki Kajioka, Satoshi Kawamata, Youji Kumagai, Ayumu Matsuoka, Ikuo Yagi, Narumi Yasuhara, and Yuki Yatsu—will be held. The venue is none other than the Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine, which enshrines Nachi Falls as its deity. Not only is this the first art exhibition to be held at the shrine, but it is also notable for being an exhibition spontaneously organized by the artists themselves, transcending genres. While confronting the National Treasure "Nachi Falls," a painting shrouded in mystery and possessing an overwhelming presence, we delve into the works and thoughts of the artists who take on the challenge of depicting Nachi Falls.
