Seiwa Kasei Develops PPT Hybrid Polymer for Color Care and "Coated Hair" Countermeasures

Seiwa Kasei Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Higashiosaka City, Osaka Prefecture, President: Masato Yoshioka), a manufacturer of cosmetic ingredients, has developed "Protesil® JLH," a hybrid polymer that combines the hair care benefits of plant-derived PPT, the smoothness of silicone, and the hydrophobicity of alkyl groups. The product will be launched in July 2026.

*1 Coated hair: A condition where hair surface quality deteriorates due to the excessive accumulation (build-up) of ingredients on the hair surface.

[Background of Protesil JLH Development]

In the hair color market, high-molecular-weight ingredients that coat the hair surface are widely used to improve the vibrancy of hair color and suppress color fading. However, when these ingredients remain on the hair surface and accumulate excessively (build-up), it leads to a condition called "coated hair," causing issues such as a heavy finish and degraded texture.

Addressing this challenge, our company has developed the multifunctional hybrid polymer "Protesil," a unique color care ingredient composed of PPT (protein hydrolysate), a silicone backbone, and alkyl groups. Furthermore, we have now developed "Protesil® JLH," which incorporates plant-derived PPT in its PPT component.

[Three Features of Protesil JLH]

Feature 1: Suppression of Hair Color Fading Provides uniform coating on the hair surface, contributing to the suppression of hair color fading.

Feature 2: Countermeasure for "Coated Hair" (Build-up Suppression) Suppresses excessive adsorption of high-molecular-weight treatment ingredients, allowing excess to be washed away during shampooing, thereby supporting the formation of a uniform coating film.

Feature 3: Damage Repair The PPT within its structure adsorbs to the hair, repairing hair damaged by coloring and daily wear and tear.
