Koichi Nakagawa
Born in Kyoto in 1969. After graduating from Keio University, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. From 1998 to 2001, he served at the Embassy of Japan in Israel, the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine (Gaza), and as an interpreter for PLO Chairman Arafat. Following that, he served as an Arabic interpreter for the Emperor and the Prime Minister (PM Koizumi, PM Abe <1st term>), and held positions at the Embassy of Japan in the United States, the Embassy of Japan in Egypt, and as Principal Deputy Director of the Press Division in the Minister's Secretariat. He retired from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in July 2020. Since August of the same year, he has been a Chief Researcher at a domestic think tank and a business consultant. His authored works include 'English Conversation that Keeps Going with Just 2 Words' (Seishun Shinsho Intelligence), 'Foreign Language Study Methods of a Prime Minister's Interpreter' (Kodansha Gendai Shinsho), and 'The "New Middle East" Moves the World' (NHK Publishing Shinsho).
