Seiki Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture; President: Yuki Sasaki) is collaborating with Ayabe City to launch a 'Multi-Municipal Shared Metaverse Education Support Center' designed to assist students who are absent from school.
A press conference will be held on Tuesday, May 26, at 11:00 AM at the Ayabe City Hall to explain the background, objectives, and operational structure of the project.
[Background] The number of school non-attenders nationwide has reached record highs, making the provision of diverse learning spaces a critical issue. Leveraging Seiki’s existing track record in metaverse-based support in cities like Kyoto, this new model in Ayabe City is designed as a 'shared-use' platform accessible across multiple municipal regions.
[Key Features] 1. Safe spaces from home: Students participate via avatars without showing their faces, allowing for interaction at their own pace with anonymity. 2. Online learning and interaction support: Includes guidance from staff and inquiry-based activities. 3. Connecting with real-world institutions: Facilitates collaboration with schools and local support agencies to provide physical, real-world assistance when needed. 4. Shared-use model for municipalities: Enables multiple municipalities to collectively manage support systems that would be difficult for a single municipality to sustain independently.
[Future Prospects] Through this initiative, Seiki aims to build a support model where everyone can access learning and connections, regardless of regional or home circumstances. The company plans to accumulate knowledge and expand the model broadly to other municipalities.
