In February of this year, the activities of installing AMIDO (simple insect screens) at the Teaching Hospital in Kurunegala City, Sri Lanka, were featured on a BS Asahi program.

Program name: Tsunagaru Ehon ~for SDGs~ #535 NPO S.O.L. "Japan's AMIDO Active Globally"

The broadcast was on April 30th, and you can watch the program on the BS Asahi Tsunagaru Ehon website's past videos, and here (YouTube).

In Sri Lanka, mosquito-borne infectious disease, dengue fever, is prevalent twice a year, every year.
However, since there is no concept of insect repellent, NPO S.O.L. (Seed of Lanka) has been working to prevent the spread of dengue fever by
installing simple insect screens called "AMIDO" in the infant rooms of hospitals.

What is AMIDO?
S.O.L. devised a simple insect screen that can be installed DIY with easy materials.
When translated into English, "網戸 (amido)" becomes Mosquito net or Screen door, but since there are no insect screens in Sri Lanka,
it tends to be imagined as a mosquito net over a bed or a partition at an entrance.
Therefore, this simple insect screen was named AMIDO.

S.O.L. believes that by introducing Japan's insect repellent culture to Sri Lanka, it can protect babies and small children from the threat of dengue fever, and will continue its activities.
We appreciate your continued support.
