In February this year, our AMIDO (simple screen doors) installed at the Teaching Hospital in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, were introduced on BS Asahi. The program, 'Tsunagaru Ehon ~ for SDGs ~ #535 NPO S.O.L. 'Japan's AMIDO Active Worldwide,' aired on April 30th. You can watch the program on the BS Asahi Tsunagaru Ehon website (past videos) or here (YouTube).

In Sri Lanka, mosquito-borne dengue fever epidemics occur twice a year. However, there is no concept of insect repellent, so NPO S.O.L. has been installing simple screen doors called 'AMIDO' in the infant rooms of hospitals to prevent the spread of dengue fever.

[What is AMIDO?]
S.O.L. developed a simple screen door that can be DIY-installed with easy-to-find materials. While 'screen door' translates to 'Mosquito net' or 'Screen door' in English, in Sri Lanka, where there are no screen doors, these terms evoke images of mosquito nets over beds or partitions at entrances. Therefore, we named this simple screen door 'AMIDO.'

S.O.L. believes that by introducing Japanese insect repellent culture in Sri Lanka, we can protect babies and small children from the threat of dengue fever, and we will continue our activities. We appreciate your support.
