SEED Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Takao Sato), a manufacturer and seller of contact lenses, announced today that it has been recognized for its advanced environmental initiatives and received the "DBJ Environment Rating" from the Japan Policy Investment Bank (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Seiji underground, hereinafter referred to as "DBJ") on March 31, 2026. The company has received financing based on this rating. This marks the fifth consecutive year since fiscal year 2021 that SEED has obtained this rating.
The "DBJ Environment Rating" loan is the world's first financing menu that evaluates a company's environmental management performance using a screening system (rating system) developed by DBJ and selects outstanding companies. In this rating, SEED Co., Ltd. was highly evaluated for the following points:
(1) Expanding environmental initiatives by increasing the number of products certified under the "SEED Ecology Mark" standard, holding cross-regional study sessions for sales representatives within the "BLUE SEED PROJECT," participating in CSR events in a wide range of regions, and installing blister collection boxes at eye clinics. These efforts enhance the company's visibility and contribute to brand value improvement.
(2) Under the "Carbon Neutral Project" led by management, the company is promoting initiatives to reduce environmental impact, such as introducing hybrid air conditioning systems and installing solar panels to expand the use of renewable energy. Furthermore, in considering specific improvement measures, the company is working towards building an integrated internal environmental management system by developing a "Yield Improvement Project" primarily within the Production Technology Division, incorporating employee feedback.
(3) To promote company-wide initiatives for product development, a Product Strategy Meeting has been newly established as a deliberative body to facilitate more concrete discussions within the company. Additionally, to accelerate the development of smart contact lenses with built-in electronic devices, a platform for industry-academia collaboration has been created, fostering mechanisms that drive innovation involving both internal and external stakeholders.

BLUE SEED PROJECT
Collection boxes are installed at eye clinics and contact lens stores that support this initiative. Used disposable contact lens blisters, regardless of manufacturer, are collected. The collected blisters are recycled by a recycling company and manufactured into logistics pallets.
