SEAOS, Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoshi Matsushima; hereinafter "SEAOS") has delivered its autonomous mobile robot (AMR) "TUGBOT2" to the Kawasaki Fazu Common Distribution Center, operated by Logistics Network Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Shuzo Babazono; hereinafter "Logistics Network"), a core company within the Nichirei Logistics Group, which operates one of Japan's largest cold-chain logistics networks.

Background of the Delivery

In cold-chain (low-temperature) logistics, especially in chilled (5°C) environments, strict temperature control for product quality, reducing physical strain on workers, and addressing labor shortages are critical challenges facing the food industry. SEAOS has now delivered the "TUGBOT2," equipped with advanced autonomous navigation and automatic coupling capabilities, to Logistics Network's Kawasaki Fazu Common Distribution Center. This initiative supports the automation of material handling operations, aiming to improve working conditions and steadily enhance productivity through labor reduction.

Value of 'TUGBOT2' in Food Logistics Operations

In this project, SEAOS has achieved the following improvements:

Realizing Automated Transport Using Existing Assets and Automatic Coupling

By leveraging TUGBOT2's "automatic coupling and uncoupling (hooking/unhooking)" function with existing carts widely used in food logistics, SEAOS has enabled fully automated towing and release of cargo without human intervention. This contributes to labor and unmanned operation not only during nighttime when staffing is limited, but also during daytime operations, reducing employee workload and enabling efficient workforce allocation.

Adaptation to Limited Spaces and Dynamic Layouts

Even in logistics centers with limited space and handling areas whose usage changes by time of day, the system controls route changes by time slot, effectively utilizing pickup and drop-off zones.

Seamless Inter-process Coordination Considering Waiting Times

The system flexibly responds to "waiting times" that occur between operational steps such as loading and unloading, establishing a smooth, harmonized collaboration between humans and robots without disrupting on-site operations.

Future Outlook

SEAOS will continue to address diverse challenges in logistics environments by combining its proprietary integrated control software "Logiler Move" with the "TUGBOT2." Moving forward, the company will contribute to overall logistics productivity by providing practical robotics solutions to environments requiring precise temperature control, such as food logistics.
