SAWAMURA Corporation (Headquarters: Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, President and CEO: Koichiro Sawamura, hereinafter "SAWAMURA"), a general construction company with 75 years of history, has jointly developed an original salt jelly with Respect Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Respect") as part of its initiatives to create a more comfortable working environment.
This product is currently provided to employees, partner companies, and business associates. Moving forward, SAWAMURA plans to refine the product through internal and external utilization and is considering future sales to the general public.
Development Background | Thinking About the Condition Management of Workers, Especially Now with Continuous Extreme Heat
In recent years, with rising summer temperatures, the environment surrounding people working outdoors has become increasingly harsh. In the construction industry in particular, ensuring safety and maintaining performance in hot weather conditions are critical issues.
SAWAMURA is engaged in creating an environment that enhances the comfort and productivity of its workers, including the introduction of wellness site offices.
As part of these efforts, with the aim of supporting people working on-site through food that allows for easy salt replenishment even in hot weather, SAWAMURA embarked on the development of an original salt jelly in collaboration with Respect.
Our Aspiration | Because It's Something Consumed Daily, We Want to Be Meticulous About the Ingredients
Ingredients used: Sugarcane from Tanegashima
For the development of this product, SAWAMURA collaborated with Respect, a company that shared SAWAMURA's aspiration to "support the health of our workers."
Carefully Selected Ingredients Packed with Dedication
The product uses augi extract made from sugarcane from Tanegashima, domestic organic shikuwasa, and shio-koji, a fermented seasoning. The goal was to create a product that could be enjoyed daily by leveraging the natural flavors.
For Those Working On-Site and Their Families
Characterized by a refreshing tartness, natural sweetness, and mellow umami. The aim was to create a flavor that is approachable for a wide range of generations, not only for those working on-site but also for their families.
"Stick Shape" for Quick and Easy Consumption During Breaks
A stick type was adopted for portability and ease of consumption with one hand during work breaks. The shape was carefully chosen to allow for easy and delicious salt replenishment even in busy work environments.
Building a Better Working Environment Together
Taste testing conducted at the safety meeting. Employees and partner company representatives experienced the developed original salt jelly.
In addition to enhancing safety equipment and improving work methods, SAWAMURA is promoting initiatives to support employees' comfortable working styles.
The newly developed original salt jelly was also offered for tasting to employees and partner companies at the "SAWAMURA Group Safety and Health Promotion Council (commonly known as Safety Meeting)" held on June 19, 2026. Moving forward, SAWAMURA plans to gather opinions and feedback on the product while expanding its provision to partner companies and business associates, with the aim of further product improvement.
Furthermore, with an eye toward future manufacturing site and general consumer sales, SAWAMURA aims to create a product that delivers a convenient and delicious "moment of respite" to everyone striving through the hot season.
