Satofull Co., Ltd., operator of the hometown tax donation portal site Satofull, expressed its heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected by the forest fires that occurred in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture, in April 2026. The company announced that, starting May 14, it will begin accepting proxy donations from Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture, to support Otsuchi Town through the “April 2026 Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture Forest Fire Emergency Relief Donation Site,” which was opened on April 24, 2026. With this addition, the number of municipalities accepting donations through the site has increased to 10. The latest information, including the total amount of donations collected by each municipality, is available on the emergency relief donation site. Through the site, donors can use Japan’s hometown tax donation system to contribute to listed municipalities in amounts starting from 1,000 yen, in one-yen increments. For this relief effort, municipalities will not incur any expenses payable to Satofull. Satofull will cover donation payment processing fees, allowing donors’ goodwill to be delivered directly to the municipalities. The forest fire in Otsuchi Town was declared under control on May 2, 11 days after it broke out. Another wildfire occurred on May 7, but firefighting operations were carried out, and both incidents have now subsided. Satofull will continue accepting donations through the emergency relief donation site so that more people can support recovery and reconstruction in the affected area. Satofull Co., Ltd. stated that it will continue contributing to disaster-area support together with all those who wish to help affected regions, through initiatives supporting disaster-stricken municipalities across Japan. The supported municipality is Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture. Municipalities accepting proxy donations are Shiranuka Town in Hokkaido; Miyako City, Ofunato City, Hanamaki City, Kitakami City, Tono City, Kamaishi City, and Shiwa Town in Iwate Prefecture; Kakuda City in Miyagi Prefecture; and Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture. Kitakami City was added on May 14, 2026. Information is current as of 3:00 p.m. on May 14, 2026. When donating to a municipality accepting proxy donations, the donation receipt certificate will be issued under the name of that proxy municipality. Additional municipalities may be listed depending on the damage situation and requests from local governments. Delivery of donation receipt certificates from the applicable municipalities may also be delayed. “Proxy donation” is a mechanism in which municipalities that have not been affected by a disaster accept hometown tax donations on behalf of affected municipalities and transfer the funds to them. By having the proxy municipality handle administrative work, the affected municipality can focus on disaster recovery. Satofull promotes regional revitalization through hometown tax donations to municipalities. Under the concept of a hometown support and hometown tax donation portal site that fully energizes hometowns and gathers their attractions, Satofull provides donors with services for selecting recipient municipalities and return gifts, applying for donations, and making payments. For municipalities, it provides one-stop operational support for hometown tax donation programs, including donation recruitment, application handling, donation collection, inventory management, and delivery of return gifts. The company also operates Furusato Kozuchi, a regional information site featuring regional revitalization initiatives using hometown tax donations.
